In July 2024, students, faculty, neighbors and motorcycle‐taxi drivers gathered at Ekamai Soi 4 to celebrate the completion of WinWin Situation—a seven-week, second-year design-build collaboration with studio ThingsMatter. Rather than “fix” the existing stand, the team learned from its quirks: measuring uneven walls, negotiating with drivers, property owners and city officials, and fabricating parts in steel, wood and fabric. The result is a custom seating system cantilevered from private walls without encroaching on the roadway, paired with a colorful fabric canopy that weaves between utility poles and complements nearby street art. Integrated recycling bins and modular auxiliary seats prototype easily deployable add-ons, while the bespoke canopy and bench transform the stop into both a local landmark and a practical gathering spot. WinWin Situation proves that hands-on fabrication and community engagement can turn a simple “win” into a truly shared urban asset.
